The 2024 St George Events Calendar for Families: Fun-filled Activities and Festivals

Let’s kick off with the current month of March and run right through the St George events calendar to the end of the year!

St. George Events

March - St George Art Festival

Welcome the arrival of spring at St George Arts Festival, which is taking place on the 29th and 30th of March 2024 in the historic town square of Downtown St George.

This family-friendly event is a cultural extravaganza showcasing the talents of local artists and performers. Expect everything from art shows to live music and dance performances to theatre.

With over 110 artists from across the United States, you’ll see works of art ranging from paintings to sculptures, alongside films exhibited at the Desertscape International Film Festival which is incorporated with the Art Festival. 

Stroll through rows of booths, enjoy live demonstrations, and let the kids’ creativity soar at the ‘Creation Station’ which organizes hands-on art workshops. Children will discover activities like t-shirt coloring, monster mural painting, and outdoor games like Giant Jenga and duck races!

April - Downtown Farmers Market

Sample the freshest local produce at Downtown Farmers Market which runs every Saturday, year-round, (10 am - 2 pm in April) on the lawns of Vernon Worthen Park.

With over 60 vendors, selling locally grown fruit and vegetables, pasture-raised meats, and fine artisanal products, this market has brought local businesses together for over 15 years and continues to go from strength to strength.

Let the kids pick out their favorite fruits and veggies, listen to live music while you shop, and enjoy a great family day out at this much-loved community market.

May - St George Children’s Museum

Tucked away in Downtown St George, the St George Children's Museum is the ultimate spot for an enjoyable family day out. Promising interactive learning and imaginative play, this is not your average museum! From the bustling Main Street exhibit to the enchanting Music Garden, there's something for every little adventurer - even a hands-on Water Play area!

But it's not just for the kids – parents can join in too! With affordable tickets and easy access, it's a no-brainer for families looking to spend quality time together. Plus, the museum makes sure everyone feels welcome, no matter their age or ability.

June - Tuacahn Outdoor Amphitheatre

Carved into the towering red rock cliffs of Padre Canyon, lies Tuacahn Amphitheatre, a unique theatre where your family will be treated to world-class entertainment in an awe-inspiring setting. And just a 15-minute drive from St George!

From Broadway musicals to concerts and cultural events, the amphitheater hosts a wide range of performances put on by professional actors and musicians - sure to entertain the whole family.

This summer, award-winning musicals Frozen and Anastasia are playing from May to October 2024, featuring much-loved characters and interactive elements that keep young ones captivated. 

Whether it's a summer evening under the stars or a matinee performance on a sunny afternoon, Tuacahn provides an unforgettable experience. Why not make a real day of it and stay for breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the onsite cafe and grill too?

July - Independence Day Celebrations

Join in with one of the biggest occasions in the St George events calendar at the 4th of July Celebration which is taking place in the Town Square this summer. With live music, a vibrant parade, a carnival, and a variety of other fun activities planned, all family members are sure to have a fantastic day.

Kicking off with a 4k race at 6.30 am, followed by a parade featuring floats adorned with stars and stripes, marching bands, and of course plenty of flags being waved, there is so much to see and do. Spread out a picnic blanket and watch all the action, before heading to the carnival to enjoy some thrilling rides and games.

As night falls, fireworks will be launched from Greater Zion Stadium, lighting up the sky with a dazzling display of color and sound. Keep an eye on the website for the best spots to watch!

August - Tubing on the Virgin River 

If your family is looking for a peaceful escape into nature and some quality time together, river tubing could be the perfect activity for you! Float Zion River Tubing runs guided river tubing sessions down the Virgin River, using the gentle river currents to float you through scenic Zion National Park. 

August is a great month for this activity as the waters are calm and the weather is warm. And the fact that Float Zion is based just 50km from St George means that it’s an easy day out.

All the necessary equipment is provided, including life jackets or floatation devices, and people of all ages are invited to take part, making this an outdoor adventure for the whole family!

September - Staheli Family Farm

Conveniently located near St George, Staheli Family Farm is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and offers a day of wholesome family fun in the countryside.

With an array of activities from hayrides to petting zoos, and seasonal attractions throughout the year, there’s plenty to keep everyone amused! In September, the farm’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch open, giving both the young and young at heart the opportunity to navigate their way out of the twists and turns of the maze and then handpick their own pumpkins! 

October - St George Marathon

St George Marathon is taking place on the 5th of October 2024 and promises an amazing experience for both participants and spectators alike. Whether you know someone taking part or you’re just there to soak up the atmosphere, you can line the course and cheer on athletes from across the globe.

What’s more, marathon day isn’t just limited to seasoned runners, families can also join in on shorter races or fun runs, designed for all ages and fitness levels. 

Later in the day, a Party in the Park is planned with food, music, and dancing, as well as bouncy castles for kids! 

November - Family Hikes

Autumn is a good month for hiking in the St George region as the heat of summer has receded and temperatures are usually more comfortable for walking. 

Nearby state and national parks such as Zion and Bryce Canyon, are both within easy reach of St George and offer a world of beautiful scenery to explore, from towering cliffs to cascading waterfalls. You’ll discover a huge variety of hiking trails suitable for everyone from the keenest hikers to families looking for a mini adventure.

December - Christmas Lights

Wrap up the year with a family stroll through the Christmas lights of St George. In the heart of the city, Town Square Park twinkles with lights, and St George's Historic Main Street transforms into a magical wonderland, with shops and restaurants decorated with colorful displays. 

You can also pay a visit to Tuacahn Center for the Arts and Red Hills Desert Garden which both host stunning Christmas light displays amongst the iconic red rock scenery.

On top of this, you’ll find that many of the residential neighborhoods come alive with festive spirit, as people decorate their homes with amazing light displays. Why not take a drive through the streets to enjoy the sights and the sounds of the season?
